FRIENDS DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Development needs your help! Funds raised by the Friends go to buy books for the library first and foremost. Additional funds support current library programs and new programs that would otherwise go unfunded. No donation is too small.

Your experience is valuable to us.

Have you worked with a nonprofit?
Written a grant application?
Are you great at meeting new people?
Are you familiar with the people and businesses in our surrounding community?
Do you want to help the library in any way you can?

The development committee is responsible for overseeing and advising on the organization's fund-raising activities.

Main duties are:

  • Set policies, priorities, and goals for fund-raising programs
  • Review the ongoing performance of each campaign/project
  • Evaluate campaign achievement versus its objectives
  • Identify and rate all major prospects for support
  • Recruit key volunteer leadership and solicitors for the organization's fund-raising campaign

Grants, annual, capital, and endowment campaigns are broken into at least five divisions:

  • Major corporate and business gifts
  • Smaller corporate and business gifts
  • Foundations
  • Major individual gifts
  • Smaller individual gifts

Meetings and Membership

Development Committee members must be members of the Friends.

We Accept and sell books

The shop officially opened for business in March 2009. Items for sale include books for all ages, movies, CDs and DVDs, as well as Friends merchandise.

Friends Shop accepts gently used books (hard cover and paperbacks), movies, CDs and DVDs.

The library reviews donations and selects items needed for the three county branches. Remaining donations go to the Friends Shop.

Donations

The Friends acknowledges the importance of gifts and donations and welcomes individuals, foundations, corporations and community groups to help them to provide enhancements to the existing programs and services available at the Del Webb Library at Indian Land. This support ensures that the Library remains an innovative and exceptional provider of information, lifelong learning, and leisure pursuits for the citizens of the Indian Land community.
