Valerie Fortier, a New England native, graduated from American International College (AIC) in Springfield, Massachusetts and studied Accounting at Northeastern University.  Her career included Office Manager of several companies, and she was the Corporate Relocation Services Director at a large Atlanta real estate firm for eighteen years until her retirement.  Her interests are varied.  Valerie is an enthusiastic playwright and is the Director of a dramatic club, Play It By Ear, that features table readings of original scripts.  Several of her plays have been performed.  In addition, she is an active member of the local Duplicate Bridge Club, the Performing Arts Club and the Writers Guild in her community.  Valerie makes her home in Indian Land, SC with her husband Dennis.  They have two grown sons, Jeremy, and Andy.  She is the author of Lost and Found and The Neighbor.

 

Oct. 28th - Lexx Christian will give an author talk on Tuesday at 5:00 pm, From Bat to Worse, vampire hunters at an assisted living community.  The library has copies available for check out.

Feb 24, 2026:  Mark Reinisch will discuss his latest book on The Wellness Ethic—How to Thrive in an Unpredictable World (Where Stupid Things Can Happen) 

April 28, 2026:  Barbara Fournier​​​​​

She has 3 novels published and the fourth

in the series has begun. These are adult

mystery, suspense, thrillers all have the

same 2 detectives. "All have a message

and I believe there is truth in fiction."

On most 4th Tuesday's of each month the Del Webb Library has a program venue reserved for the Friends of the Library starting between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. The Friends of the Del Webb Library are looking for interested presenters, such as authors, and books, gardening, wildlife, aging well, art, etc. and subjects of interest to adults in Indian Land. Programs must be preregistered and scheduled with the Friends of the Del Webb Library, NOT the Del Webb Library.  Contact contactdwf.brd@gmail.com.

The Friends' is a nonprofit, nonpolitical service organization aware of the need for monthly adult-type programs for the library. Tuesday Evenings Programs are open to the public.

Friends of the Del Webb Library Members, join us and bring a guest too. You do NOT have to be a Friends member to enjoy our events.

Volunteer for Committees

New committees are being formed for 2025.  Members, check out the COMMITTEES page.

              We are a Sec. 501 (C) (3) organization. 
                 Your membership is tax deductible.

 

 Anyone from any state may join! 
There is no requirement to have a Del Webb Library card.

 

Your membership entitles you to our Friends newsletter bringing you up to date on events and happenings at the library, Friends Benefits discounts at participating businesses, as well as giving you early entry for specified book sales. 

You may also purchase GIFT MEMBERSHIPS for friends or relatives so they can enjoy Friends membership benefits!
 

Our memberships are for the current calendar year.  Annual Memberships begin on January 1st.      

You may purchase a membership at any time during the year, good for the remainder of the current year.

                                       OR

You may purchase a membership for the upcoming renewal year, which will be sent to you by January 1st becoming active then.

Friends’ Membership for 2025 or 2026

Please understand that the library will accept your membership form/payment envelope and hold for our Membership pick up.  However, the library staff   cannot process your application, nor give you your membership card.   We hear you!
